Happy Anniversary!

This Saturday (1st March) will be my 12th year anniversary at the Red Lion, Cotherstone.... boy time flies!
I think I'm still wearing well, perhaps a little less grass on top but still weighing in at a thoroughly reasonable (and less than previously advertised) 12 stone 10 pounds!
Some of you will have sampled with me well in excess of 200 different cask ales, bitters, mild's and stouts on the guest ale pump; from both local and national brewers. Walking round the bar and snug is like a trip down memory lane; the pelmets and picture rails racked out with brewery badges and beer pump clips. There have been some weird and wonderful named beers including; Monkeybeck Grains, Dognobbler and Wee Tim'rous Beastie to name but a few!

We've also seen some wonderful local characters pass through our lives and leave an indelible stamp of their personality in the memories of all those they have left behind. We fondly remember and re-gale your tales and adventures embellishing them with fisherman worthy exaggerations so to etch as folklore. We salute you hero's of the Red and makers of legend, may ours days be as full and remembered as yours!

Now onward and forwards...

This winter season has seen some steady and improved darts from our youthful side with only granddad Hedley holding up the average age from time to time. With 2 games left to play its all pretty tight mid table of the second division and with some consistent playing 4th spot should be in our grasp.

Our experienced domino side may well reach new heights as the league tails off and the 1st division title is within their reach. Five games left to play and 3 points clear at the top - It's squeaky bum time!
Best of luck to Dynamo Dent, Grassy Green, Stoney Wall, Lamb Chop Hedley, Father Ted, Robbie 'shovel face' Dalton and the undisputed best domino player in the league Master David of Pinners!

We'll also soon be welcoming back our 'shed pulling' friends and look forward to catching up with all your gossip. Please can you bring some good weather with you? Ta!

Ttfn & cheers

Richard
