Please browse through our pages and discover some of the charms of this cracking little pub set in the heart of Teesdale. Please note, "No Paws Indoors," assistance animals only. The Red Lion has a no pets indoors policy. We're happy for you to bring your pets into the beer garden but ask you not to bring them into the bar area, thank you.

Sick of Scotch Eggs!

Just a quick update as it seems an age since I last blogged.
The summer has flew by and the sun has been a welcome change. Many wonderful guest ales have passed through the cellar and the Yorkshire Dales Rowan Tree is still on fine form...and still only £2.40pt I may add! The faint hint of Autumn is creeping into the evenings and tonight sees the return of an open fire in the front bar after some months of absence.
This weekend gone saw a return of some sizeable catering from the Red, another Gosling wedding! In truth I'm still recovering from it, 124 covers at a village hall venue have left me a little whacked!
Here's the menu for your perusal...

Sounds nice eh?
All seemed to go well and the bride looked stunning.
Mickleton village hall transformed itself into the most beautiful wedding location with draped curtains hanging from the ceiling and idyllic village views looking over the field and beyond.
The perfect local location for a local lass!

So what's next on the agenda you may well ask?
On the 24th August I will be playing host to 'The Men of Red Lion Morris'
I've my fingers crossed for a fine evening with a little breeze to keep the midges at bay!
This freshly put together group of dancers will perform a range of sword, morris and clog dancing in front of the pub from 8pm onwards. Come along and show some support for the Red Lion Morris dancers, if nothing else its a fine excuse to enjoy a pint or two!

...and as a final footnote we all send our deepest sympathy to Keith and wish his VW Passat a speedy recovery. You've had a good innings Captain, now welcome to the club! x x
